NEWS

The summer season will be upon us soon. We have had several days of rain which is turning our grass green, how is it that the weeds grow faster than the plants? More often than not, the sun breaks through, the sky becomes blue and it gets warm again.
In anticipation of our warmer summer we have air conditioning in all the guest suites and in our main sitting room. These should benefit everybody, as it can get very hot during the summer. Our wood burner is now moth balled until next winter.
Sunsets are still amazing, an ever changing view from our house, see more on our photo gallery page.

Fishing has had a very good run and all our clients during the Rugby World Cup had a great time on the lake. As well as trout there are now two extra landing nets sitting about 120 feet down! November & December have been busier than expected, we have bookings for January through to May and are looking forward to our morning breakfasts with our guests.
We took a few days break over Christmas and had a great day at the Ellerslie races with Chris & Jay.
The summer house provides a focal point in our gardensummer-house and a quiet retreat from the rigours of the house. Our neighbours cat "Archie" has adopted us and our garden during the day, he loves playing with the garden hose, we hope he doesn't put too many holes in the plastic.
Reading our Visitor’s Book, it is quite amazing to see how many people have stopped with us over the past few months, and how many countries have been represented. We really enjoy talking to all these different people, it is nice when guests spend a few days with us as we feel that we get to know each other that bit better, but even those who only stop for a brief while add their own particular individuality. One couple who come to mind rang  us about 6pm to ask if we had a bed for the night as they had just done the Tongariro crossing and were wet and muddy and badly in need of a bit of home comfort. Three loads of washing, a hot tub and a glass of wine latergarden-spa-pool, they were ready to face the next day, we had the satisfaction of knowing we had helped them, even if only for one night.
We have not had to water the garden so frequently with the recent spell of wet weather consequently the garden and lawn are a stunning green necessitating the lawn mower working overtime. A cold beer or wine is a welcome treat after a hard day in the garden.
