Spring/Summer 2008 Trout Fishing and/or Accommodation Report.
Looking out of my lounge window, the lake is magical and calling me to go and play.
Looking down to Tongariro National Park, the mountains are stunningly beautiful. Fresh snow covering the three sacred peaks. Mt Ruapehu, Mt Ngauruhoe and Mt Tongariro.
The snow is expected to last well into December this year. It’s amazing to think we can have beautiful warm sunny days here in Taupo, and still enjoy the wondrous sight of the snow covered mountains in National Park.
You will not experience snow in Taupo, but you can take a drive to the mountains. Just 45 minutes south of Taupo town will bring you to the foot of Tongariro World Heritage National Park. The loop road around the mountains makes for a stunning days drive.
For the fit and more adventurous visitor, The Tongariro Alpine crossing is a must do.
No need to drive yourself. You can be picked up at our B&B by one of three couches that do daily return trips.
One of my pleasures is to offer our guests fresh strawberries and herbs from the garden.
The strawberry plants are covered in white flowers. It looks to be a very good crop this season. I can’t wait to dress your breakfast plate with these succulent beauties.
The lemon trees are covered in fruit. I will need these for the trout breakfasts.
With so many guests traveling with laptops and notebooks, we now offer wireless internet connection.
Our aim is to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable with welcoming friendly hosts.
We have been fortunate to have received glowing, independent reviews on Trip Adviser from our guests. While you on our website. Click on the Links page. Then click on Trip Adviser reviews.
For the fisho's out there. The catch rates over the last two months have been particularly good.
On every charter, a tasty trout has been bought back to shore for the table. Best size, 7lb brown caught by a visitor from USA.
We have two fantastic restaurants in Taupo that we always recommend where you can BYO trout. You can not buy trout in NZ. You must catch it your self. If you are planning to stay at our B&B, Bruce would be happy to prepare it for your breakfast the following morning should you wish.
We anticipate a good summer season at our B&B and fishing out on the lake. While you are on our website, click on accommodation availability. If the dates you are interested in show up green, we still have a room available. If it shows up white, we can accommodate up to six adults.
We look forward to your company, either on our charter boat or in our home.
Kindest regards,
Angela
